By the simple expedient of narrowing the neck to eliminate the two outermost strings, and altering the peg head, a six string guitar becomes a four string guitar. When tuned A, D, G, C, like a tenor banjo, it becomes a tenor guitar. In that configuration it is played like the tenor banjo, but it renders the sweet and deeply resonant voice of a guitar.
